About us

The museum is tasked with collecting, preserving, researching, and communicating cultural expressions from both the past and the present. By documenting both variations and commonalities, the museum aims to highlight Hardanger and Voss on local, regional, and international levels. As a custodian of societal memory, the museum aspires to be an open meeting place where everyone is welcome to explore and experience. The museum also provides professional assistance on museum and cultural heritage matters to municipalities and volunteers in the region.

Our Social Responsibility

Diversity

Hardanger and Voss Museum strives to reflect the diversity of Norwegian society to the greatest extent possible. The goal is to achieve a balanced composition of employees in terms of age, gender, and cultural background.

The Museum is:
  • Certified as an Eco-Lighthouse
  • An approved training institution for traditional crafts, including boat building, carpentry, rope making, and blacksmithing
  • A host organization for the European Voluntary Service (EVS)

Our Values

Credible
Our communication, management, advisory services, restoration, and other activities are based on knowledge.

Generous
We share our knowledge within the organization and externally with the wider community.

Engaged
