Activites for families and children

Explore historic sites, experience living craftsmanship up close, take part in hands-on activities, set off on adventures, and create lasting summer memories together.

Each museum offers its own unique experiences, but they all have one thing in common: you can enjoy the day at your own pace, with activities that engage visitors of all ages.

Experience Living Craftsmanship

At the Hardanger Maritime Centre in Norheimsund, you can experience traditional craftsmanship up close and take part in preserving these important skills. Follow our family activity trail, row a traditional boat on the fjord, build your own toy boat, make your own rope, and explore our living maritime heritage centre.

Where History Meets Play

At Hardanger Folk Museum in Utne, children can make their own beaded bracelet, take part in fun challenges, and play in the historic farmyard. Throughout the summer, you can also watch traditional flatbread baking, enjoy live folk music, and join guided tours that bring the history of Hardanger to life.

At Agatunet, imagination takes centre stage. Dress up as knights and discover one of Norway’s best-preserved historic farm clusters. Here, history comes alive through play and exploration.

Art for the Whole Family

At Kabuso Art Centre, the whole family can enjoy changing art exhibitions in beautiful surroundings by the Hardangerfjord. Just next door is the Ingebrigt Vik Museum, where children can be inspired by the many sculptures and create drawings of their own. Combine your museum visit with a walk through the beautiful park or a stop at the café overlooking the fjord.

Adventures in Voss

At Voss Folk Museum, you can visit the beautiful and authentic Mølster farmstead, try walking on stilts, solve fun challenges, and explore the exhibition *A View of Voss*.

A Day Full of Experiences

At our museums, you can smell tar and freshly worked wood, try traditional games, enjoy live folk music, take part in hands-on activities, and experience cultural history with all your senses. All activities are included in the admission ticket, and children under 16 enjoy free admission at most of our museums.

Feeling hungry? All of our museums have cafés where you can enjoy something sweet or savoury during your visit.
