SPOR
A literary concert with Ruth Lillegraven and the duo Djønne&Børsheim
The trio will perform a concert at Agatunet on August 22nd at 19:00. Refreshments will be sold before the concert, and the venue opens at 18:30.
SPOR translates to TRACES. SPOR is based on Ruth Lillegraven’s poems and texts, accompanied by music from and with folk musicians Annlaug Børsheim on guitar, Hardanger fiddle, and vocals, and Rannveig Djønne on the diatonic accordion. These three musicians follow various musical and literary traces in this concert, and there is no doubt where they come from.
The duo Djønne&Børsheim has collaborated with Ruth Lillegraven for several years, setting her texts to music. In 2019, they created the musical theater piece HUSMANN for the farmstead Kvemmadokkje in Ulvik. The world premiere attracted 800 people, and it was an unforgettable evening.
In 2023, they released the album Skyer av Perlemor (“Mother-of-Pearl Clouds”), which primarily features texts by Ruth Lillegraven, taken from her books Urd and Sigd, and set to music by the duo Djønne&Børsheim.
SPOR was commissioned for the Langs Linjo festival in Voss in 2024, marking the first time the three women performed on stage together. In the spring, they performed Traces in Ulvik and at Josefines Visescene in Oslo, and now the east and west sides of Ullensvang are next.
From the album review in the magazine Folkemusikk: On Skyer av Perlemor, the songs shine clearly, with Ruth Lillegraven’s words delivered through melodies with a calm and secure tone from the duo. Pay attention to Lillegraven’s texts, and notice the nuances in the playing and singing of the two.
Review from the musical theater Husmann: The music truly stands in a league of its own. Annlaug Børsheim’s powerful yet heartfelt voice can bring tears to even the hardest-hearted farmer. Together with Rannveig Djønne’s diatonic accordion playing, this became pure magic. – Stine Strand Carlsen, Avisa Hordaland.
