Lars Korff Lofthus and Lajla Buer Storli

Agatunet opens for the season on Saturday, May 9 at 3:00 PM with a new art exhibition by Lars Korff Lofthus and a concert by Lajla Buer Storli. The program begins with an opening in Asbjørnsløa and continues with a concert in Lagmannsstova. Lajla will give the opening speech.

The Exhibition

In the paintings of Lars Korff Lofthus (b. 1978), different environments meet: traditional Hardanger interiors with cabinets and farmhouse beds, powerful male bodies, and vast landscapes—all painted with a personal and distinctive perspective. Earlier, he painted the landscapes of Western Norway—not the national-romantic version, but the Western Norway many recognize today: cut through by tunnels, marked by snow poles and modern infrastructure. Over time, Lofthus has turned his gaze inward, toward the cultural heritage of Hardanger and his own queer existence.

The Concert

Lajla Storli grew up in Kvalvik in Hardanger, but now lives in Revetal in Vestfold. She has played the Hardanger fiddle since she was a young girl and mainly performs traditional tunes from Hardanger. Lajla is also a folk singer and places great importance on the song traditions from her home region. She used several of these songs and tunes while working as a guide at Agatunet, and she feels there is something special about sharing this music in a place that lies close to her heart. The music seems to belong there, among the houses and lived lives, she says—tones that have followed people in the past and present, offering comfort and joy. The concert will be an intimate encounter with strings and voice.

Farm Cluster

Agatunet will be open from 11:00 AM that day. The café will also be open.
