Om arr.

Each year, we set up an exhibition created by students of the arts at Ullensvang Cultural School. The exhibition can be found in the basement of Johansstova.

Throughout the school year, the students work with great variety, and the exhibition represents this breadth – you’ll get to see everything from quick sketches (croquis and blind drawing) from drawing exercises to more elaborate works that have developed over time.

The students select some works to be included themselves, and art teacher Johild Mæland ensures good representation and mounts the exhibition.

This year, there have been 40 students distributed across six teaching groups: one in Jondal, one in Hauso, and four groups in Odda. The age range is large, from primary school to adult students.

Common to all groups is that they spent a period looking at folk art, specifically examining various styles within rosemaling.

The Hardanger Game Festival invited the art students to create illustrations, in the form of playing cards in a given format, to present the various games at the festival. In total, 43 beautiful small drawings were made.

Every year, the students go on an excursion and do fieldwork – this year, they visited the Barony in Rosendal, right during the bloom!

This year’s exhibition showcases drawings, playing cards, rosemaling studies, and paintings. Additionally, some three-dimensional works in the form of sculptures will also be displayed.

The exhibition opens on Saturday, May 31 (see a separate program post about the opening event) and will be accessible in the first weeks on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 5 PM.

From Monday, June 16, to Sunday, August 31, it is open every day from 11 AM to 5 PM.

The exhibition is included in the regular ticket.
